Doctors
cannot explain why Jay Allen is still alive. At the
age of 18, Jay collapsed unconscious coming out of the
shower and remained in a coma for three days. He was
not expected to wake up, even after doctors performed
emergency brain surgery. Jay survived, but with a life
expectancy of only 15 months. That was 16 YEARS
ago.
This
brush with death gave Jay a sense of urgency and threw
him into a mid-life crisis at 18. For most of his life,
Jay defined success on the ice, living and breathing
hockey while pursuing a career as a professional goaltender.
If he woke up, doctors were certain he would never play
sports again. Now, hockey was just a game to Jay and
stopping a frozen hockey puck flying towards him at
100 mph was nothing compared to the challenge of simply
staying alive.
In his new book, HUMANS IN
TRAINING: Everything You Need, You Already Have
(HIT Publishing, October 2003, ISBN 0-9689693-1-3, $16.95
US), Jay shares the one realization that saved his life.
Just like athletes train to perfect their game, people
can train to perfect their lives. With the determination,
strength and focus of an athlete, Jay was able to overcome
the odds and is in the best health and shape of his
life, 15 years after doctors slated him to die.
HUMANS
IN TRAINING introduces the concept of whole-being
fitness with a training system to strengthen our emotional,
spiritual and mental muscles. The Toronto Sun
calls HUMANS IN TRAINING “an owner’s manual for daily
life.” It provides the tools and inspiration needed
to step out of the bleachers and become a player in
the game of life. Jay’s one-of-a-kind Inner
Circuit Training program is a much-needed workout
for our inner core.
This
is not a weight-loss plan or an exercise manual designed
to tone your triceps or shape your stomach. It isn’t
a 10-step plan that maps out exercises to work different
muscle groups. Instead, it’s a workout like you’ve never
experienced before for the most neglected part of our
bodies, our inner beings. It guides us to ask the important
questions.
With
HUMANS IN TRAINING, you will:
- Get
a makeover – from the inside out
- Realize
your life is not an accident
- Escape
from the penalty box and get in the game
- Exercise
muscles most people don’t even know they have
- Learn
the ONE thing that if you work on this, everything
else will fall into place
- Build
a strong inner foundation to make truly lasting
life changes
- Understand
that we are not the one exception in the entire universe
- Balance
inner needs with outer demands
- Discover
that “Everything you need you already have….you
must simply learn to use what has already been created
within.
Imagine
this:
|
…you’re playing a game but you’re not sure what
the purpose is or what it means to win;
…you
don’t understand the rules, you’re not prepared,
and you always seem to be in the penalty box;
…you’re
simply working hard and hoping for the best.
Does
this sound frustrating? Maybe even familiar?

All
great coaches are masters of preparation. They focus
on the basics and mastering the fundamentals. Jay Allen
wrote HUMANS IN TRAINING to share that spirit with readers
by explaining what he has been doing, why it works,
his journey to get there, and how
anyone can be an athlete of this kind!
His
personal story is one that is bottom of the 9th,
bases loaded, 2 strikes, and 3 balls. Literally, it
was do or die. Jay Allen knows the art and science
of survival and he can now share it with your audience.
